Football 2010

J.B. is #7, our star quarterback, and MVP of the season (for reals).  I think when they lost the Q.B. mid season, they realized Jordan was a pretty valuable player.

I took this picture to go with one of my favorite quotes Jordan's coach said this year.  At half time, the boys are losing the game, so he quotes in his southern drawl "if you boys win this game today, my head will be this big" (as he is showing how much larger his head will be).  I had to turn around and giggle.  The coach already has a good size head, both in attitude and in actual size.  I'm just sayin'!!

Jordan is telling the team the play...they look like they are all gonna die...uhhh maybe they need some better conditioning during practice coaches?? Wait! Maybe any conditioning would be AWESOME!

Jordan with one of the Neurologists (I think) at Primary Childrens Hospital.  They were so great up there, and Jordan loved his room with the xbox, movies, and room service.  Jordan could order anything he wanted!! He was in heaven.  I am SO thankful we live so close to Primarys.  I'm glad we are close to the U of U too.  They have been great so far with his rehab.

Baumgart Times

Before I post pictures of all the fun times we have together as a family, we have our trials too.  I am thankful for trials, because they always seem to humble me and bring us all closer to our Heavenly Father.  This year has seemed to be a year that we have taken things a day at a time, or even a minute at a time.

On October 7, Jordan sustained a traumatic Brain Injury.  He was in football running through hitting drills, and went helmet to helmet with another guy 3 times his size... why the coaches didn't stop that, I'll never know.  He got hit 4 times.  A couple of days later, before he played his next game, we took him in to the Doctor because he was experiencing concussion symptoms.  Come to find out, his brain was bleeding and he had a 4 inch fracture on his skull.  The ambulance strapped him in and off they went to Primary Childrens.  He stayed there overnight, so they could monitor the bleeding on the brain.

The Neurologists said he would be 3 months in recovery, and they were right! He is slowly recovering, but having several symptoms still.  He is not attending school, which is hard for him because he is an Student Body Officer, and wants to be there to help with the activities involved.  Instead, he is on home and hospital. We feel so lucky to still have Jordan here, we have been told over and over that it probably would have only taken one more hit, and it could have been fatal.

This experience has been a bit difficult for me as a mom.  I just keep wondering why...the answer I get is that, it is time for Jordan to head into a different direction now at this time of his life.  Jordan LOVES playing football, but he will not be able to play it anymore.  He will most likely deal with headaches the rest of his life, and he has a hard time with short term memory.  We are hoping the new year, will bring Jordan health.  In the end, this trial has helped us and Jordan focus more on long term goals. 

So, in between going to Neurologists, Concussion Rehab, MRI's or CAT scans for Jordan, I've been spending time with our cute little 2 year old monster, and our cute Madi.  I always look forward to the time Joel and I can take a night out, it rejuvenates me!  I am so thankful for Joel and all the patience he has.  He is a wonderful father, and husband, and person.  He just "gets" me.

Hudson is Two!! Choo Choo!!

Happy Birthday Hudson!  Wow, time is going by too fast!  You'll always be the baby of the family and you know that because you like to snuggle like a baby, and you get away with a lot more that Jordan and Madi ever did.  You are starting to talk... sometimes it sounds like you've learned Chinese, but you know what your saying, and we will understand it here pretty quick.  We love you so much and we wouldn't know what to do without you!  I love your energy, I love the way you like to pucker up and give everyone kisses, I love the way you run, and your feet swing side to side, I think it's funny that you yell mom over and over and over, even if I answer you, you just keep saying it.  You are just everybody's little buddy.  We love you!! XOXO.

Huddy LOVES Thomas the Train.  He loves all trains!  He got this Thomas flashlight for his bday and uses it at night to find the "perfect" blanket, or his binki.

A Huddy proof Dump Truck!  Hudson is more aggressive than Jordan and Madi were, so toys get broken ALOT, and all we hear is..."uh oh".  He doesn't mean to break them, he just tugs and pulls and lets them fall down the stairs.  He is a crazy kid...all the toys we saved from Jordan and Madi, he is destroying!

Annual BYU Apparel Trip

We love BYU!!  We always look forward to going to the campus bookstore to get our hats, t-shirts, earrings and everything to cheer them on!  This year, Joel got tickets with the mucky mucks (Cougar Club) to go and watch the first game.  Amazing food, for before the game, and halftime...as A.G. Raiford put it, "It's nice to be with the high brows for a day" he he... I love him!


And once again... OUR MONSTER! After the Bookstore, we went to that Pizza/Pasta place in Provo, and Hudson was out of his mind, until a gentleman across the aisle started pulling faces at him and playing peek-a-boo.  He entertained Hud long enough that we could eat our food... Thank you nice man for entertaining our little special one :)


Oh! They just grow taller and taller every year!  Jordan is within an inch of my height!  He is about 5'7.  And Madi looks like a 5th or 6th grader because of her height and cute personality!

Incredible Fun!

Hot Summer days mean stay inside right? We went to a new place called "Incredible Pizza" with Mom and Dad and Jer and Lindsay's family.  They had laser tag, a open buffet, movies, go carts, mini bowling, and mini golf, bumper cars... it was a blast to be with the family and have so much fun!!

Princess Kennedy!  Kennedy and Huddy love to hug and kiss each other.  Kennedy is a true princess!


I think Hudson's face speaks for itself...How can a kid be SO adorable and the HULK at the same time?  We always laugh how muscly, strong and tough he is...then we blame it on the steroids he received while he was in my tummy.  Right now, we are amazed at his awesome calves.  He is a cutie!

July-August 2010

Lovin' the Go Karts!  I was 17 and took 4th place, Jordan 88 took 2nd.


Hudson's signature...the puckered lips!  Who could turn that down?  Not me! Even when they are covered with sticky, gooey, slobber...yep they're still kissable!



Jordan got his football equipment, and decided to break Huddy in on football, yeah Hudson loved it!


So Mom sliced up some watermelon, and before she knew it, Hudson was chomping down on each piece, right down the row.  Hudson's favorite food... WATERMELON!!

July 2010

My good friend Kadie and I switched kids for a couple days...Madi LOVED playing with Charlie.  They did make-up, nails and girly stuff.  Kind of reminds me of when me and Kadie were kids!


Part of the Kid switch...Jordan got to stay at Kadie's with Jackson.  Jordan was in heaven!  Four wheelers and a whole lot of space to ride them.  I think it was good for Jordan and Madi!


Part of our Annual Neighborhood party. This fire truck led the parade of all the kids and adults on their decorated bikes, then once we got to the park, he hooked it up to the fire hydrant and raised the ladder up and had water blasting down.  I love it... such a fun tradition!

Madi is a beautiful dancer! She is in Jazz, and they performed to "hey, hey we're the monkeys"  She is so fun to watch, she is so animated and really gets into the moves :)  She is awesome!

Jordan made SBO!

On Thursday, May 20 we found out that Jordan made SBO! We are so proud of him! I guess everyone loved his video...even the teachers. One of his teachers emailed me and told me it was 'HILARIOUS' we are trying to figure out how to get the video on the blog. Great job Jordan!

Through all this, the whole family except for Jordan has been sick :( I got put on meds for a sinus infection. I took Huddy to the Dr. yesterday and he has infected tonsils, both ears are infected and a sinus infection...poor kid. Joel and Madi are sick too, but haven't seen the doctor yet.

Oh! One other great thing that happened this week (sarcastically)... Joel decided to shave Huddy's hair. I was in the shower when it happened. I walked out and saw Hudson, he is BALD! Well, it's a good thing hair grows back and Hudson isn't old enough to care AND he is a boy. OH JOEL! WHY????

Braces

What would it be like to be a teenager without braces? Jordan is now in Phase 2 of having a beautiful smile. He will have this set on for about 15 months. His mouth has been killing him the last couple days...poor kid!

S.B.O. Tryouts

Jordan is trying out for Student Body Officer. He went through the interview, and was chosen as a candidate, along with 9 other students...so it's crunch time!! His platform was based on the Old Spice commercial of "Anything is possible..." He did a great job of making the video, and posters. Luckily he had some great Campaign managers ha ha! I hope he makes it. He will do a great job! The vote is on Tuesday, May 18. Good Luck Jordan!!

Talented Young Writer!

Our cute little Madi was chosen by her teacher to submit a piece of writing authored by Madi.

Talented Young Writers is a district sponsored special program open to students who demonstrate an exceptional talent in writing. Jordan School District used the selected pieces of writing in a publication with other talented writers. They also allowed the students to read their writings. The facilitator liked the poem so much, she had Madi recite it 2 times to the audience, then again privately to the principal. Madi did an awesome job of writing, and acting!
